GET TO KNOW ME
Hello, My name is Colleen Alford and I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, with an additional certification in perinatal mental health through postpartum support international. My perinatal experience began in 1995 when I started working as a doula attending home and hospital births. After completing nursing school, I worked at the bedside as a registered nurse in labor and delivery, NICU, and postpartum and I created a comprehensive perinatal program at a rural community clinic providing in-office, telehealth, and home visits. And now, with my advanced nursing education, I have transitioned to helping women with their mental health throughout their lifespan.
I truly care for all of my clients and find it incredibly meaningful to work with my patients throughout life's changes, which is why I have opened this practice. My expertise is working safely with psychiatric medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding and understanding the effects of hormonal changes. I listen to your experiences and will always meet you where you're at. I will give you my honest recommendation and work to see how that may fit into your life or meet your goals. The treatment plan we decide on will be unique to you, guided by your experiences and preferences, the evidence-based data and scientific literature, and my clinical expertise.
